Dr Gossop's Guided Bus Report Submitted
Date Issued: 28th July 2005
CAST.IRON has learned from the Planning Inspectorate that Dr Chris Gossop's report into Cambridgeshire Guided Busway was submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport, Alistair Darling, on Wednesday 27th July 2005.
Tim Phillips, chairman of CAST.IRON, said, "As the leading objector to the guided bus, we are delighted that the Secretary of State will finally be able to make a decision on whether the expensive and unwanted busway will go ahead or not.
We are writing to the Department for Transport to let Mr Darling know that we have funding in place to acquire the railway line from Network Rail and commence repair work to allow trains to operate once again."
CAST.IRON has produced costed plans to reopen the railway for £50 million, less than half the cost of building the Guided Bus scheme.
